Successful Kyu exams

Postby Francis Takahashi » Wed Nov 10, 2010 8:32 am

On Saturday, November 6, 2010, the Aikido Academy conducted a series of kyu examinations, for both the children and adults in our various programs. The venue was the Lodge meeting room, courtesy of John Harney's efforts to procure this room when our regular site was suddenly unavailable due to a scheduling glitch.

The wonder of it all is how well it worked, giving us privacy, a dedicated place to emphasize the unique privilege for our members to perform, and comfortable seating for parents and friends of those who were examined.

Kudos go to the instructors of both the Children' and Junior's programs, who conducted an excellent format for testing that we can use and improve upon for the future.

Kudos go to the children who were so well behaved and focused on being in the moment and proving true our efforts to help guide their growth and skills development.

The adult portion too held positive surprises, with first time examinees handling the improvised format with ease, and to the 5th kyu candidate who aced his exam, even after a layoff.

Next week, we get the dan exams. Those candidates have quite an act to follow!
