Joseph Miller, Aikidoka

Postby Francis Takahashi » Fri Nov 27, 2009 9:55 am

It is with a sad heart that I announce the passing of one of our own, the Reverend Joseph Miller, in San Pedro on Monday, November 23, 2009.

Joe exemplified the wonderful example of an honest student of the martial arts, giving all he had to training and to developing, while never forgetting his duties to his family, his church and to his occupation as an engineer. His ability to balance all necessary parts of his rich and full life is a lesson for us all.

Joe was able to train whenever and where ever he could, making several attempts to begin a satellite operation near his home, whenever he could not join us at the main dojo.
He attained the rank of Aikikai San dan, but in my mind, he was a true Aikido Shihan, in his spirit, his compassion and his love of teaching those fortunate to know him

He passed away peacefully, according to his lovely bride Doris, and was surrounded by family, listening to music from a youthful family member.

Good bye, Joe. You will always be a part of Aikido's family, and of ours.

In Oneness,

I only met Joe once, and it was a great practice.
